Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Local Government Area
Commences Sunday 1 September 2019
Because of the ongoing extremely dry conditions, the 2019/20 fire season will commence 1 month earlier this year. Residents are advised that the 2019/20 Bushfire Danger Period commences on Saturday 1 September 2019.
The NSW Rural Fire Service urges all residents to prepare for the bushfire danger period which comes into effect in the Lake George Zone (Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Local Government Area) of the NSW Rural Fire Service fire district from 1 September 2019 through 31 March 2020.

During this Bushfire Danger Period, specific rules apply that MUST be followed and burning in the open is NOT allowed without a permit. Heavy penalties can apply for people who light fires without a permit.
For further information on requirements for burning during the Bush Fire Danger Period, and to apply for a permit, contact the Lake George Fire Control Centre on 6128 0600 during normal business hours.
