Carwoola Landcare Meeting

Carwoola Landcare Group meets regularly on the 2nd Monday evening of each month at 6.30-8.30pm. Guest speakers are regularly invited. Workshops and field days are also conducted on weekends. There is also the prospect we will hold "check out what I did on my block" events at people's properties to showcase outcomes of landcare work.

Hot Spots Cafe

HotSpots Café opens on 21 May

Starting on Sunday, 21 May, RFS is starting a small, regular coffee stop in conjunction with WildCare and LandCare.
We are hoping Carwoola residents who want a nice cuppa will drop in, chat with your neighbours and have a chat with us on fire & land management issues. Over time we’d like to build this into an active program of engagement with landholders to cooperate in managing our environment better.

Carwoola Post-Fire Community Meeting

Our second Community Fire Recovery Meeting is on Sunday 26 March at the community hall between 2.00-5.00pm, to reflect on lessons learned during the February fire and to begin planning what we can do, both as individual households and as a community, to assist recovery and reduce the impacts of similar fires in the future.
Topics that have been raised for discussion include:
  • Improving fire alerts and communication

Carwoola Post-Fire Comunity Get-together

Sunday 5 March at the hall, drop in any time between 3-5pm - an opportunity to meet and thank in person your fellow Carwoolians who worked together over last weekend to save lives and reduce property and stock losses, and since then in the immediate recovery phase. This date gives time for RFS members to rest and recuperate, as many are still on patrols, plus more time to advise residents.

Carwoola Landcare Group Meeting

At this inaugural meeting we will plan our meeting calendar for the year and talk about some activities that we would like to do (e.g. a private release of the Rabbit virus – see below.) There will be cake.

RabbitScan Seminar

Carwoola Landcare (assisted by Upper Murrumbidgee Landcare Committee) are hosting a RabbitScan workshop and information session on 25 January 2016.
We are lucky enough to have Peter West of the Invasive Animals CRC coming to Carwoola to explain the community mapping program, RabbitScan. This program is an important component of the upcoming release of the new RHDV K5 project.
