FIRE SEASON ENDS 31 MARCH 2018

The Bush Fire Danger Period for summer 2017/2018 has now closed (31 March 18). From 1 April fire permits are no longer required for the Palerang and Queanbeyan Local Government Areas (with some specific exceptions noted below). Although fire permits are generally no longer necessary, you must still exercise caution and follow the NSW legislation regarding the lighting of fires.

Feral Fighters Course

South East Local Land Services, in association with Carwoola Landcare, will be conducting a training course on managing pest animals on rural properties.
The course provides information about the use of poisons (including pindone and 1080), and alternative pest animal control methods.
The course runs for approximately 2.5 hours. On completion, you will receive an accreditation that will allow you to use these methods and poisons for pest animal control. This accreditation lasts for 5 years.

April HotSpot Cafe 

The Stoney Creek RFS cafe will be on Sunday 15 April, 9:30-11:30 at the fire station/ community hall, Gathering Place, Carwoola. 

The theme for April is fire safety within the home. 

We will focus on:

- wood fire heaters, management of ash heaps, chimney maintenance to prevent flue fires 

- safe charging of multiple mobile devices, risks associated with over heated mobile phone etc batteries

The Annual General Meeting for the Carwoola Community Association will be held at the Stoney Creek Community Hall, off Douglas Close, at 7.30pm on Thursday 9th November.
