Fire Season Ends 31 March 2017

FIRE SEASON ENDS 31 MARCH 2017

The Bush Fire Danger Period for summer 2016/2017 has now closed (31 March 17). From 1 April fire permits are no longer required for the Palerang and Queanbeyan Local Government Areas (with some specific exceptions noted below). Although fire permits are generally no longer necessary, you must still exercise caution and follow the NSW legislation regarding the lighting of fires.

HotSpot Café 19 November 9:30-11:30 

The HotSpot training program is now concluded as far as the formal training being offered by Phil Paterson. The community responded well to opportunity to learn more about the vegetation types, and landscape characteristics that influenced the fire behavior of the February blaze. This was followed by an opportunity to explore individual property characteristics to help plan management strategies to reduce the risks to assets, by identifying the hazards and prioritizing actions.

The Annual General Meeting for the Carwoola Community Association will be held at the Stoney Creek Community Hall, off Douglas Close, at 7.30pm on Thursday 9th November. 
Nominations to join the committee can be made before the meeting to the Secretary, Lucy Costas (0437 538 529), or during the meeting, provided that the nominee has confirmed their willingness to accept the nomination.

Carwoola Landcare Meeting

Carwoola Landcare Group meets regularly on the 2nd Monday evening of each month at 6.30-8.30pm. Guest speakers are regularly invited. Workshops and field days are also conducted on weekends. There is also the prospect we will hold "check out what I did on my block" events at people's properties to showcase outcomes of landcare work.
