2019 Bush Fire Season extended

Due to ongoing dry conditions across a wide area, the NSW Rural
Fire Service has extended the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period in the NSW RFS
- Lake George Zone area which includes all of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional
Council area until 30 April 2019

The Bushfire Danger Period usually ends on 31 March. The
extension means that anyone wishing to light a fire in the QPRC area will still
require a permit.
Permits are free and easy to get. Once you have a permit,
residents need to notify neighbours and the Qbn Fire Control Centre (6128 0600)
24 hours prior to lighting up.

The decision to extend the season was made in consultation with
council and RFS Group Captains around the zone.  Some adjacent zones are
also extending their Bushfire Danger Periods. These decisions are not made
lightly and involve a wide range of stakeholders in the area.

Kind regards,

David Hanzl
